Libretto – Gangsta Jazz vol. 2 – The Album

Liquid Beat Records delegate and West-Coast reppin’ wordsmith  Libretto strikes with some hard margin rhymes and a prolific stash of soul-jazz laden beats on his latest LP, the Gangsta Jazz vol. 2 -The Album (HERE) project. Some must-check tracks include a rumbling funk cut called “Headhunters” (featuring Theory Hazit); a smokey, “my-life-&-times” styled jazz sax bijou called “Black Codes” (featuring Dcokah); a lo-fi and low simmering crime funk cut called “Concrete Paradise”; and (my personal favorite) the majestic, knowledge-of-self track “Jesus Had’a Afro” – which betrays some well-received influences  of Gil Scott Heron and George Duke in its sound and delivery.

[su_highlight background=”#fff799″]”Liquid Beat Records and Slum Funk Entertainment are incredibly proud to present the new project from Libretto, Gangsta Jazz 2 The Album. Gangsta Jazz 2 is Libretto’s first release since being released from prison, and his first full album since his classic debut, Illoet on Dim Mak recordings. Written entirely while Libretto was in confinement, Gangsta Jazz 2 offers meditations on the mystique and first person realities of life in the projects.” [/su_highlight]
