The Butcher Brown quartet commits out-and-out brilliant sounds to tape on its newly dropped Virginia Noir album (HERE).  DJ Harrison and company artfully trek through funk, rock and soul laden territories and settle into their own amalgam sound that easily embers on tracks like “Penthouse Rendezvous”, “Pontchartrain Causeway” and “Labyrinth” then flies into full on funk jam mode on cuts like “Rule #1” and the  “Fiat”. Other standout cuts include the stutter step ruby “World Tour” and the breezy jazz-funk introduction track “Headlights”

Leaning heavy on the svelte and swanky end of the jazz-funk spectrum, the Magic In Threes combo delivers the second collection of tracks in their “song-a-week” campaign with the album IV (HERE). Amassing the gang’s work from April 1st to June 24th, this release continues the vibe-heavy, late-60’s-to-mid-70’s movement of the group’s earlier work, with slightly more focus on a sleeker, library funk style.
